Botox is the number one cosmetic procedure in the United States. The Botox product, medically known as Botulinum Toxin Type A, is a prescription medicine that is injected directly into the muscles to block nerve impulses, which essentially paralyzes the muscle and stops the contraction. “Basically, Botox blocks the signals that would normally tell your muscles to contract”.

Botox procedure is our specialty. All Botox treatments are performed by our Board Certified nurse practitioners who acquired advanced training. You will always receive maximum strength, fresh BOTOX. Although individuals may have slightly varied results, we will work with you to achieve your most optimal results.

Advantages of Botox

Common areas treated with Botox

When will I see results from Botox treatment?
Botox is injected into the targeted muscle using a tiny micro-needle. Usually, several injections are given per muscle. Because the needle is so fine, the pain associated with the injections is minimal. You will feel just a very small sting during the injection. The entire procedure takes approximately ten minutes. Most patients are in and out of the office without down time and can resume normal activities immediately.

When will I see results from Botox treatment?
Within days, you may see marked improvement in the treated area. Results are fully evident within two weeks after treatment and lines continue to improve for up to 30 days. New York Botox can last up to four months. Results of Botox procedures performed for treatment of underarm sweating last up to seven months. Individual results may vary.

Will I still be able to make facial expressions?
Properly done, Botox treatments will not radically change your normal facial expressions or make you look as if you’ve had something done. Our practitioners are expert injectors, and we will give you natural appearing, age appropriate results.

Possible side effects of Botox
Some patients experience slight, temporary bruising at the injection site. This can easily be covered with makeup. Other possible side effects may occur, but they would be temporary because Botox is completely reversible. Our practitioners will discuss the side effects associated with the procedure during your complimentary consultation.

Not all Botox treatments are equal
Botox at one practice may not be exactly what you get at another. Botox is supplied in a manufacturer’s vial. In order to be able to inject the active units of Botox, the physician must add saline to get it in liquid form. This process called reconstitution enables the Botox to be extracted from the vial into the syringe. The more saline that is added to the Botox vial, the less active units that will be present in the syringe.

Every practice gets the Botox from the same manufacturer--Allergan, but during the reconstitution process, some physicians add saline at the recommended standard by the American Society of Plastic Surgery and others add more saline than recommended. Physicians who add more saline than suggested are giving you a less effective injection of Botox. Also, many facilities quote a price based on the area. But what is their definition of an area? They may actually be breaking up what is considered one area into two areas. With this in mind, you should be cautious when practices off Botox at bargain prices.

At Mid-City MedSpa, we charge by the unit for Botox, so you only pay for the exact number of units you receive. We follow the American Society of Plastic Surgery guidelines on reconstitution, so you are assured of the efficacy of the product. She will discuss with you which areas on your face should receive an injection to best meet your concerns.

Botox is $12 per unit.
